The part of a hardscape you never see is just as important as the part you do. Good excavation, a properly compacted base and planned drainage are what keep pavers level and walls standing straight year after year. That preparation is where we spend our time, because it is what separates a project that lasts from one that needs repairs in a few seasons.
Hardscapes also work best when they are planned together. A patio, a walkway leading to it and a set of steps down from the deck can all be designed to match, using the same paving stone or a complementary colour.
